BRASSED OFF !!!
In June , Wardle Anderson Brass performed 5 nights of the stage version of Brassed Off at the Todmorden Hippodrome. The Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (TOADS) organised and ran the event and it was their actors (and stage crew and all number of other helpers) that helped make it into a fantastic Show. Nearly 1,500 people watched over the 5 nights and there were many many comments from people about how much they enjoyed it.
The people from TAODS were a brilliant bunch of people to work with and we really do hope to work with them again in the future - something that was mentioned many times at the after show party on Saturday !
From the players point of view, it was one of the most enjoyable jobs they have ever done. A massive thank you to everyone involved and we look forward to returning to the Todmorden Hippodrome in December for a Christmas Concert.

Second Section - Diggle Band - 1st place
Third Section - Delph Band - 1st place and Cheshire Constabulary Band - 3rd place.

On Sunday 14th March 2010 Co-operative Milnrow Band once again competed in the Championship Section and were drawn to play 11th out of the 12 bands in the section.
They eventually arrived on stage at around 7-00 pm, and left some 16 minutes later to tumultuos applause after their rendition of the difficult test piece "English Heritage".
The performance of soloists and ensemble were sufficient for the adjudicator to award the band 6th place (and a glass trophy) from the 12 competing bands.
Thus Milnrow maintains its coveted position in the Championship Section for at least another year, in the knowledge that is is rated the 6th best band in the North West Area, and that the name Co-operative Milnrow together with another local success story, Ashton under Lyne (5th) cn be uttered in the same breath as those giants of the brass band fraternity who occupy the first four places, namely, Fodens (1st), Fairey (2nd), Leyland (3rd) and Wingates (4th).
MD Jon Ward and members of the Co-operative Milnrow Band must be congratulated on their hard work in attaining and maintaining their exalted position amongst the elite of the Brass Band World.

LONG SERVICE AWARD PRESENTATION
On Sunday 13th December at a Christmas Concert held in the Middleton Cricket Club, the Chairman of the NWABBA, Mr. Peter Bates, presented a special Diploma of Honour along with the new Long Service Medal to Mr. Geoff Harrison of the Middleton Band, to mark 60 years service to the brass band movement. Geoff said this was the first award he had ever received to mark his service with brass bands and he was delighted to accept it from the NWABBA.
Peter took the opportunity to remind all band members of the awards given by the NWABBA to mark their service, and said they should apply for one after at least 25 years service.
